PowerBox 512V LiFePO4 Backup Power Solution Overview
PowerBox is a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) high-voltage battery cabinet solution from CSB Energy Technology for data center uninterruptible power supply scenarios. The product type is designated as 512V Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Cabinet, positioned as a high-power UPS solution for space-constrained, mission-critical applications. Unlike common 2V, 6V and 12V valve-regulated lead-acid batteries, it adopts a lithium battery cabinet form factor, integrating the energy storage unit and high-voltage DC output into a single rack-mounted structure for centralized deployment within the equipment room.
According to official specifications, the PowerBox 512V has a nominal voltage of 512V, a maximum voltage of 576V, a minimum voltage of 432V, a nominal capacity of 140Ah, and a nominal energy of 71.68kWh. The rack's maximum continuous discharge power is 300kW, a power level corresponding to short-duration, high-power-density discharge requirements, suitable for providing backup power to critical loads within limited space. The combination of voltage range and capacity gives the system a wide operating range on the DC side, facilitating coordination with the UPS DC bus.
In terms of communication and management interfaces, PowerBox supports RS485, CAN, Ethernet and dry contacts. RS485 and CAN are commonly used for data exchange between the battery management system and upper-level monitoring, Ethernet facilitates connection to the equipment room network for remote viewing, and dry contacts can output alarm or status signals for linkage with environmental monitoring or building management systems. The coexistence of multiple interfaces makes it easier for the battery cabinet to integrate into existing data center monitoring systems.
Within CSB's product portfolio, PowerBox belongs to the same data center uninterruptible power supply application direction as the HR, HRL, XHRL, XPL and XHT lead-acid UPS series, but follows a different technical route: the lead-acid series is based on valve-regulated sealed lead-acid (VRLA) and absorbed glass mat (AGM), while PowerBox uses lithium iron phosphate. Together they cover different requirements from high-power-density discharge to long-duration backup, allowing users to select the appropriate solution based on space, power and runtime requirements.
It should be noted that the parameters described in this article are all from official product documentation, and actual selection and configuration should be comprehensively evaluated in light of on-site load, ambient temperature and backup time requirements. The installation, ventilation, fire protection and O&M requirements of lithium iron phosphate battery cabinets differ from those of lead-acid batteries. It is recommended to consult the documentation for the corresponding model and follow relevant standards before deployment.
